What is Specvis?

ACCESSIBILITY

Specvis is a free and open-source perimetry-like software for visual field examination.

INTERFACE

With easy and intuitive interface allowing for starting new test in 1 minute. Check the Quick start guide and the documentation.

TIME

Allowing for visual field examination in less than 5 minutes.

RELIABILITY

On the level not worse than professional perimeters costing more than 10 000 euros. Check our PLoS ONE article.

Versions

SPECVIS FOR PERSONAL COMPUTERS
  • One version for Windows, Linux and Mac.
  • After download it's ready to run.
  • Support one or two screens.

Requires Java Runtime Environment in version 1.8.121 or newer. You can get the newst version of JRE here.

SPECVIS FOR VIRTUAL REALITY SOON
  • Version for Android devices.
  • Display content to only one eye at the time.
  • Cast information about ongoing test to the second Android device or to personal computer.

Awards

1st place

Specvis prototype was awarded on the Psychological Interdisciplinary Conference of Young Scientists "Brainstorming" at University of Szczecin in Poland (2014).

2st place

Specvis prototype was described in my (Piotr Dzwiniel) master's thesis which was awarded in the XI edition of the national polish competition of the State Fund for Rehabilition of People with Disabilities (pl. abrev. PFRON) (2014).

Winner, finalist and distinction

Specvis become winner, finalist and got a distinction in categories Inspiration, Business and Technique (respectively) in national polish Technotalent Foundation competition (2016).

Future

MODULARITY

Specvis will morph into a platform with various tests for vision diagnosis eg. including more tests for visual field examination.

REHABILITATION

Specvis will provide functionality allowing for neurorehabilitation of visual functions, eg. after stroke.

EYE-TRACKING

Specvis will allow for testing people with deficits in the central vision, eg. with the use of eye-tracking and audio cues solutions.

LOW-COST VR/AR SYSTEM

Creation of a low-cost VR/AR system for vision diagnosis, improvement and support for healthy, visually impaired and blind people.
